Palace Transit


Palace Transit operates curb to curb public transportation to anyone of any age in Mitchell Monday thru Friday 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Call the Palace Transit office at 605-995-8440 Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to reserve or cancel a ride. All rides must be scheduled prior to 4:00 p.m. the business day before.  Any rides scheduled outside of the timeframe will be charge a Same Day Ride fare.

Weekend and evening cancellations can be made by calling 605-999-8440.

  • Martin Luther King Day - No Services
  • President's Day - No Services
  • Memorial Day - No Services
  • Juneteenth - Office Closed, Limited Bus Operations (Red Token Rides)
  • Independence Day - No Services
  • Labor Day - No Services
  • Native American Day - No Services
  • Veterans Day - Office Closed, Limited Bus Operations (Red Token Rides)
  • Thanksgiving Day - No Services
  • Christmas Eve - Services close at noon
  • Christmas Day - No Services

Note: Service hours and holiday schedules are subject to change. On holidays when buses are operating and the office is closed, please contact the after hours phone number at 605-999-8440. Ride reservations for the day following a holiday must be made with the office the day before the holiday.

Shopping Schedule

 Grocery Shopping - Monday-Friday 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. To all grocery stores.

  • Walmart - Monday-Friday 10 a.m. pickup and 11:45 a.m. return, or 11:30 a.m. pickup and 2:30 p.m. return
  • Walmart - Saturday 12:30 p.m. pickup and 3:00 return

Routes are determined by our routing software. There are no guarantees on pick-up or drop off times; however, Palace Transit will strive to accommodate all passengers as best as possible.

Additional Information

We are a Medicaid provider; prior approval is required. If any individual over the age of 60 is unable to afford transportation service, contact the Palace Transit office for assistance.

Any child under the age 3 must ride with a parent or responsible guardian and must be properly secured in a car seat provided by the parent or guardian.
