Summer Reading Program Kick-off 
Wed May 31 & Sat June 3
10am-noon  
Pet the goats & pick up your reading charts to earn free books, ice cream, and treats. Get a Bingo card, too!

Touch-a-Truck 
Wed June 14
10am-1pm
See a fire engine, an ambulance, and lots of huge city vehicles. Perfect for kids who love trucks and machinery.

Zoo-Man  
Wed June 21

See animals & reptiles with Zoo Man, Brent Mielke from Minnesota. Great for animal lovers!

The Noise Guy

Prehistoric Indian Village

Learn how people lived all together a long time ago in the Mitchell area. Great opportunity for anyone interested in archeology.

Hector Curriel, Cartoonist

Learn cartooning from graphic novel author and illustrator, Hector Curriel. If you like graphic novels, this workshop is for you! Location: Library Community Room

Make a Hanging Collage 
Friday, June 9

Make a hanging collage with art teacher, April Geist. Then, create a collaborative display.

Create a Group Mural with 
Miss South Dakota State Fair
Friday, June 23
10:30am & 2pm
Make a group mural of your favorite book characters. Led by Laney Titze, the 2023 Miss South Dakota State Fair.

Learn Cartooning with Hector Curriel
Tues July 12
10:30am & 2pm
Learn cartooning from graphic novelist Hector Curriel from Sioux Falls. Curriel is also an author, illustrator, and artist.
Best for Gr. 1 & up.

Here's your chance to create whatever you want! A wide variety of blocks, Legos, boxes, and art supplies will be available.

Games 

Library Bingo
Pick up a new Bingo card each week at the library. When you complete a row of challenges, you win a small prize! Do all 8 Bingo cards & receive a free prize book.

Giant Puzzle Jar  
How many puzzle pieces are in the jar on the library's counter? Each time you come to the library, write your guess. Whoever has the closest guess at the end of summer will win a small prize. 

Stump the Librarian  
Write 3 clues about a book you've read. If the librarian can't guess the exact title, you win a small prize. The "Stump" sheets are available at the library. 

Reading Challenges 


READING REWARD CHARTS
(i.e. ICE CREAM CHARTS)
 Ask for a chart at the library. When you reach each level, come to the library for a signature from a librarian. Then, go to the local business to receive a treat.

READING STICKER CHARTS  
Ask for a sticker chart at the library. Then, place a sticker on your chart for each day you read (or listen) for at least 20 minutes. (Limit: One sticker per day.)

      50 stickers = 2 free prize books
      25 stickers = 1 free prize book

Storytimes

Come to Storytime for stories, songs, crafts, and fun! Preschoolers, toddlers, infants, and older children are welcome with parent or caregiver.
